ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Asheville Police Department officers made multiple narcotics-related arrests over the course of the weekend, taking four individuals into custody on outstanding warrants and drug charges during proactive enforcement efforts following community complaints about illicit drug activity.
In the first incident, officers made contact with Aaron Keith Brown, 47, who had open warrants for possession of narcotics, around 8:12 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9 at the intersection of State Street and Amboy Road in West Asheville. During the arrest, Brown was found to be driving without a license and in possession of drug paraphernalia.
Brown was charged with:
- Misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia
- Misdemeanor count of driving while license revoked
Brown was also served with felony warrants. Brown was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under no bond due to the Pretrial Integrity Act.
Brown’s passenger, Jessie Melissa Cline, 48, was found to be in possession of narcotics and was also taken into custody.
Cline was charged with:
- Felony count of possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver Schedule II
- Misdemeanor count of possession of Schedule VI
- Misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia
- Misdemeanor count of resist/delay/obstruct
- Misdemeanor count of assault of a government official
Cline was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $35,000 secured bond issued by a magistrate.
In the second incident, officers made contact with John Bradley Davis, 46, around 9:47 p.m. the following night, Sunday, Aug. 10 in the 100 block of Tunnel Road. Davis was driving a vehicle with expired inspection and registration. During the stop, Davis was found to be in possession of numerous narcotics and was taken into custody without incident.
Davis was charged with:
- Felony count of possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver cocaine
- Felony count of possession Schedule II/VI
- Felony count of possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver marijuana
- Felony count of maintain vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substance
- Misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia
Davis was issued citations for no operator’s license, no liability insurance, expired registration and expired inspection.
During his arrest, APD officers seized:
- 226.76 grams of marijuana
- 24.14 grams of cocaine
- 1.39 grams of “crack” cocaine
- $916
Davis was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $100,000 secured bond issued by a magistrate.
In the third incident, officers made contact with Dakota Lee Worley, 29, who had open warrants for trafficking narcotics, around 11:04 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 10 on South French Broad Avenue. During the arrest, Worley was found to be in possession of a trafficking amount of opium, as well as methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Worley was charged with:
- Felony count of trafficking opium or heroin
- Felony count of possession Schedule II
- Misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia
Worley was also served with felony warrants and booked into the Buncombe County Detention Center under a $30,000 secured bond issued by a magistrate.
