Asheville man sent to prison for drug trafficking

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — An Asheville man will spend at least seven years behind bars after pleading guilty to drug trafficking charges.

The Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office says on Friday Aug. 30, 2024, Seneca Rondale Johnson, 21 of Asheville, pleaded guilty to two felony counts of trafficking in opium/heroin.

As a result, Superior Court Judge Alan Thornburg sentenced Johnson to serve an active term of imprisonment of 90-120 months in the custody of the NC Department of Adult Corrections and to pay a $100,000 fine.

TASKFORCE PULLS 67 GRAMS OF FENTANYL, OTHER DRUGS OFF THE STREETS

The DA says on March 24, 2022, officers with the Asheville Police Department were called to Rockhaven Motel in response to suspected drug activity. When they arrived at the scene, officers located Johnson and “saw drug paraphernalia in plain view.”

Johnson was searched and was found to have 14 grams of fentanyl in his possession.
