ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Asheville police have filed additional felony charges against a 19-year-old man previously arrested on dozens of warrants and are asking for the public’s help to locate him after his release on bond.

Detectives have filed nine new felony charges against Masieuh Dewayne Morgan following further investigation, the Asheville Police Department said Friday. The new charges include identity theft, conspiracy, aiding and abetting obtaining property by false pretenses, accessing computers to commit fraud, trafficking stolen identities, possession or manufacture of fraudulent identification, common law forgery and related offenses.

Morgan was arrested earlier this month on 25 felony warrants and an additional charge of possessing a stolen firearm. He was taken into custody Jan. 3 near the 200 block of Long Shoals Road in South Asheville after what police described as a lengthy investigation.

The original warrants included multiple counts of obtaining property by false pretenses, accessing computers, conspiracy, fraud, uttering forged instruments and endorsements, forgery and driving while license revoked.

Morgan was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Center under a $362,500 secured bond. After a bond hearing, that amount was reduced to $72,000. Police said Morgan posted bond and was released Jan. 7.

Detectives now are seeking to locate Morgan in connection with the additional charges. He is described as standing 6 feet and 1 inch tall and weighing about 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Police said he has tattoos reading “Devon” on his left arm and “10-18-87,” “06-01-14” and “Keith” on his right arm.

Police believe there may be additional victims and said the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about Morgan’s whereabouts or who believes they may be a victim is asked to contact Asheville police at 828-252-1110. Anonymous tips can be submitted through the TIP2APD smartphone app or by texting TIP2APD to 847411.
