Asheville police seek help locating teenage suspect in July shooting

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Asheville Police Department have requested assistance from the public with locating Elijah William Poore, 18, who has open warrants related to a July 24 shooting.

Poore is described as a Black, 18-year-old male, weighing around 120 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He is wanted for assault with deadly weapon with intent to kill inflict serious injury and possession of firearm by felon.

Poore should be considered armed and dangerous. If seen, do not approach; call 911 immediately,” APD said.

The teenager has been on the lam since Friday, July 24, when APD officers responded to the 100 block of South French Broad Avenue to investigate a report of a gunshot wound victim. Officers found a juvenile male at the scene with an apparent gunshot wound.

Officials say there is no evidence to tie the shooting to the July 19 shooting on Biltmore Avenue.
