Buncombe County pools to open Memorial Day weekend

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Buncombe County Parks and Recreation is preparing for the summer season this weekend .

Cane Creek, Hominy Valley, North Buncombe, Erwin and Owen community pools will begin operations Saturday, May 24.

Asheville City and Buncombe County schools remain in session through Tuesday, June 10, so pools will be closed on weekdays during that time. However, all pools will be open for Memorial Day on Monday, May 26.

Beginning Wednesday, June 11, pools will be open daily. The 2025 summer pool season will end Sunday, Aug. 10.

General pool hours:

  • Saturdays, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Sundays, 1-6 p.m.
  • Mondays-Fridays, 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • On Tuesdays and Thursdays, Cane Creek, Erwin and Hominy Valley pools will be open 11:30 a.m.-7 p.m.

Pool entry is $4 per person. Free entry to the pools is available through ZOOM passes.
