ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A shopping staple swamped by floodwaters from Tropical Storm Helene has reopened almost five months later.

The Walmart on Bleachery Boulevard in Asheville partially reopened Feb. 14, and Asheville area residents celebrated.

General merchandise and dry goods, along with non-refrigerated grocery products are available. The store is scheduled to fully reopen in the spring.

“It’s so nice to see Walmart open on Bleachery Rd! They do not have the perishables set up yet, but they have everything else!” one person said on social media.

“Thank you to @walmart for inviting us to the Grand Reopening of the Bleachery BLVD,” Asheville Dream Center said in a Facebook post. “Walmart that had been devastated by Hurricane Helene! Nearly 5 months later and they are finally back in business! One step towards rebuilding Asheville! Walmart delivered semi after semi to our supply hub in the days after the Hurricane hit our city!
