ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — While Asheville is renowned for its farmers markets, maker markets and craft fairs, a nonprofit initiative will bring a new twist to the market booths of Asheville for the rest of the year.
The Children’s Entrepreneur Market is an organization committed to teaching kids about money, sales and creativity through empowered entrepreneurship. The program, designed for 5 to 17 year olds, gives children an opportunity to hawk, sell and promote whatever products they want, from baked goods to handmade crafts.
After registering, kids are given 10 by 10 foot spaces to set up tables, tents and their wares. While parents are welcome to assist in the set up, it is up to the kids to run their stall. To help them prepare, CEM has resources like printable business plans and YouTube tutorials for topics like pricing, marketing and money management on their website.

There will be six different CEM markets in the Asheville area for the rest of 2025.
“We are thrilled to bring the Children’s Entrepreneur Market to join fun events in the Asheville area like Harvest Fest in 2025,” said CEM Executive Director Lynée Fife in a press release. “With Asheville’s vibrant small business community and strong entrepreneurial spirit, this market is the perfect opportunity for kids to become business owners for a day, gain real-world experience and develop confidence, independence and responsibility, all while having fun!”
