ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — While Asheville is renowned for its farmers markets, maker markets and craft fairs, a nonprofit initiative will bring a new twist to the market booths of Asheville for the rest of the year.

The Children’s Entrepreneur Market is an organization committed to teaching kids about money, sales and creativity through empowered entrepreneurship. The program, designed for 5 to 17 year olds, gives children an opportunity to hawk, sell and promote whatever products they want, from baked goods to handmade crafts.

After registering, kids are given 10 by 10 foot spaces to set up tables, tents and their wares. While parents are welcome to assist in the set up, it is up to the kids to run their stall. To help them prepare, CEM has resources like printable business plans and YouTube tutorials for topics like pricing, marketing and money management on their website.

This year’s song of the summer is a ballad, not a banger. Here’s what that says about us

For the past 14 weeks and counting, the top Billboard spot has been held by a love ballad: Alex Warren's "Ordinary." As Berklee College of Music professor and forensic musicologist Joe Bennett notes, the February release is "a fair bit slower than the mean average for the Hot 100, or for a historical song of the summer."
