Help Hendersonville: Two donation drives open for toys, food, essentials

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — This holiday season, the city of Hendersonville will collect contributions for two different donation drives at Hendersonville City Hall.

The first drive will support local families with food and personal care items, while the second will collect toys and necessities for foster children. Both drives will be open for donations from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., until Friday, Dec. 5 at Hendersonville City Hall, 160 6th Avenue East.

Hendersonville Donation Drive

For the family-oriented donation drive, the city of Hendersonville has partnered with Interfaith Assistance Ministry, a local nonprofit that assists Henderson County residents with basic needs through faith-based collaboration.

What to Donate

Non-perishable food and personal care items, including:

  • Canned soup
  • Canned tuna or chicken
  • Cereal and dry pasta
  • Men’s deodorant
  • Dish soap and shampoo
  • Body wash
  • Baby wipes and diapers (sizes 4–7)

Additional Drop-Off Locations

In addition to City Hall, donations can be dropped off from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Fire Station 1 Lobby, 851 North Main St.
  • Fire Station 2 Lobby, 632 Sugarloaf Road

Donation Drive to Support Henderson County Foster Children 

For the foster chid-oriented drive, the city of Hendersonville has partnered with the Henderson County Department of Social Services.

What to Donate

The DoSS drive is collecting toys, activities and necessities including:

  • Developmental toys for newborn infants to two-year-olds
  • Puzzles and family board games
  • Magna-Tiles, Legos or building blocks
  • Books for all ages
  • Diapers
  • Wipes
  • Pull-ups (larger sizes 2 and up are especially needed)

“Join us in spreading kindness and making the season a little brighter for everyone in our community!” the city of Hendersonville wrote in a press release.
