WEAVERVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Motorists traveling through Weaverville should expect traffic delays Wednesday as road work prompts intermittent lane closures on Interstate 26, county officials said.

A contractor for the North Carolina Department of Transportation will be working near Exit 18 at Monticello Road between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. The work will require multiple closures of the interstate during that time.

Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and increased rerouted traffic on major roads in Weaverville and to consider alternate routes if possible.
