ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Asheville Fire Department is warning drivers about an overnight closure planned for a section of Interstate 26 West on Tuesday.

Crews will shut down I-26 West between Exits 37 and 31 starting about 8 p.m., with the exact start time dependent on traffic volume, officials said. The highway is expected to reopen by 6 a.m. Wednesday.

The department noted that the closure schedule could also change based on weather conditions.

A detour will route westbound traffic off I-26 at Exit 37 onto N.C. 146 (Long Shoals Road), then to U.S. 25 North (Hendersonville Road) and back onto I-40.
