ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Asheville Police Department is investigating the shooting of a juvenile last night at Hillcrest Apartments near the River Arts District.

APD officers responded to a report of a gunshot wound victim around 7:22 p.m., Tuesday, July 7, at the 100 block of Atkinson Street, located at Hillcrest Apartments.

According to an APD press release, upon arrival, officers discovered a male juvenile suffering from a gunshot to the back of the leg. The youth was transported to Mission Hospital and is stable condition.
