ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Some special nurses with Mission Health have been recognized for their service to the community.

A press release from Mission Health says six nurses were recently recognized as part of the 2024 Great 100 Nurses for North Carolina. The award honors registered nurses across the state for their commitment to excellence. The winners from Mission Heath included Amber Hyman, Hannalie Lindsey, Linda Pitman, Debbie Ogden, Shelby Harbin and Kathy McElreath.

Each year, the Great 100, Inc. recognizes influential nurses who are nominated by their peers.

“Nominations are scored based on how the nominee promotes and advances the profession of nursing in their practice setting and/or community; demonstrates integrity, honesty, and accountability; displays commitment to patients, families, and colleagues; demonstrates caring and assists others to grow and develop; radiates energy and enthusiasm, and contributes to overall outcomes in their practice setting,” a release from Mission Health says.

“We acknowledge and appreciate having a team of exceptional nurses across Mission Health, and it is a pleasure to see this prestigious recognition awarded to six of them this year,” Mission Health Chief Nursing Officer Melanie Wetmore says in a release. “We are honored to call them our colleagues, grateful for their service in our communities, and proud of their embodiment of our mission – to care for and improve human life.”
