Mission Hospital files request for 10 additional newborn beds

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Mission Health has submitted a certificate of need application to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services for the development of 10 new neonatal beds at Mission Hospital in Asheville.

The project, filed by MH Mission Hospital LLLP, is projected to cost $25.9 million and would be finished in July 2029, if approved.

The application will undergo a public hearing at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 15, in the Pack Memorial Activity Room of the Pack Memorial Library, 67 Haywood St. in downtown Asheville.

Additionally, the public may submit a written comment about the proposal to the NCDHHS Healthcare Planning and Certificate of Need Section by 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026. Comments can be mailed as an email attachment to dhsr.con.comments@dhhs.nc.gov, or physically addressed to:
