Obituaries released for Fairview murder victims, no public services planned

FAIRVIEW, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Two members of the Grant family had their final resting place announced in their obituaries after their deaths rocked Fairview, N.C. earlier this month.

On May 8, 2026, 41-year-old Travis Eugene Grant, 42-year-old Kimberly Michelle Grant and 66-year-old Sharon Harwood Grant were found dead inside their Fairview home. Travis and Kimberly Grant were married. Sharon Grant was Travis Grant’s mother. The suspected killers are 16-year-old Star Grant, daughter of Travis and Kimberly Grant and granddaughter of Sharon Grant, and 28-year-old Devan Loving, both of whom are in custody and charged with first-degree murder.

Obituaries for Travis Grant and Sharon Grant were published to the website of Harwood Home for Funerals, a Black Mountain funeral home. Efforts to find an obituary for Kimberly Grant were unsuccessful.

In the Grants’ obituaries, Hardwood Home wrote that the mother and son will be laid to rest in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, a graveyard located at 455 Hollywood Road in Fairview, N.C.

The obituaries said that no public funeral services are planned at this time, but that the family would like to thank Harwood Home “for going above and beyond to assist during this difficult time.”

In his obituary, Travis Grant is remembered for his employment with the automobile component company Meritor and for collecting and building hot-wheels. Read his full obituary here.
