HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A suspect has been arrested after a bank robbery was reported Friday morning in Hendersonville.

A news release from the city of Hendersonville said police officers responded to a report of a robbery at the SECU located at 90 Commercial Blvd just before 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 23. Officials said a male suspect wearing a medical face mask handed an employee a note demanding money.

Thankfully, no bank customers or employees were injured. Officials said area banks were immediately alerted.

A second news release from the city of Hendersonville said the suspect, now identified as 38-year-old James Scott Bayne, Jr., of Greenville, South Carolina, was apprehended by officers of the Greenville Police Department around 10 p.m. Friday night, Aug. 23.

Bayne, Jr was charged with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon.

“Evidence related to the crime was recovered and Bayne was transported to the Greenville County Detention Facility where he is being held awaiting extradition back to Henderson County for arraignment,” the city’s news release said.

This investigation was led by the Hendersonville Police Department with substantial assistance from the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office and the NC State Bureau of Investigation.
