Sharon Elizabeth Capps Hughes, 1960-2024


Leicester – Sharon Elizabeth Capps Hughes, 64, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Mission Hospital.

A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Norman Eugene Capps and Alma Pearl Waldroup Capps, and the wife of the late Albert Hughes. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Regina Lynn Capps.

Sharon dedicated her life to serving others through her work as a CNA for Always Caring for over 30 years. She attended Sunrise Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are her children: Gary Erwin and wife Laura, Tennille Roberts and husband Brad, Sherry Nicholson and husband Jonathan, and Amanda Norton; grandchildren: Dalton Smith, Cameron Nicholson, Whitney Petrik, Jacob Erwin, Kyle Erwin, Chase Roberts, Corbin Roberts, and Rylee Roberts; step-children: Tonya Hughes, Robert Hughes, and Shaun Hughes; brother, David Eugene Capps and wife Felicia; many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren; niece, Regina Capps; and nephew, Jeff Capps.

A service to celebrate her life will be announced. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is honored to serve Sharon’s family.
