Woman found dead on Old Mars Hill Highway identified

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help as it investigates the death of a woman found Friday morning along Old Mars Hill Highway near the Madison County line.

Deputies and troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to a call for service around 7 a.m. at 795 Old Mars Hill Highway, where they found 45-year-old Teresa Annette Davis dead near the roadway.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains active while authorities await the results of an autopsy.

“Our hearts and thoughts are with the family of Teresa Davis,” District 2 Capt. Chris Stockton said in a statement. “Once we receive the autopsy results, we will be able to provide additional information.”

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the case to contact the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office at 828-250-4470.

No additional details about the circumstances surrounding Davis’ death have been released.
