‘The Gift’ of giant puppets: Paperhand Puppet Project plans Wortham Center show

The Paperhand Puppet Project, a puppet-focused performance troupe, will return to Asheville next month to present "The Gift," the company's 25th anniversary production. Performances of 'The Gift" will run from Nov. 7-9 at the Diana Wortham Center for the Performing Arts.

Hilton Asheville to host Thanksgiving buffet for Eblen, 12 Baskets Café

Next month, Embassy Suites by Hilton Asheville Downtown will host a Thanksgiving Buffet charity benefit. The community is invited to partake in a meal to benefit Eblen Charities and 12 Baskets Café. The Thanksgiving Buffet will be held from noon to 5 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 27 at the Embassy Suites, 192 Haywood St.

FEMA extends funding for water treatment through Nov. 30, city says

The city of Asheville has shared an update on the water pre-treatment systems that have been temporarily installed at the North Fork and DeBruhl water treatment plants. These systems, installed after Hurricane Helene hit the plants in September 2024, will remain in place through Nov. 30, 2025, thanks to funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
